ACT Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), classified as part of the modern “third wave” of behavioral therapies, is gaining increasing recognition thanks to solid scientific evidence and growing interest among professionals worldwide. As a psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience, I use ACT to support patients in finding harmony and realizing their deepest values.

ACT integrates the achievements of behavioral, cognitive, humanistic, and existential therapies, offering a unique approach to the human experience. It assumes that difficult thoughts, emotions, or memories are a natural part of life, and attempts to suppress them can intensify suffering. Instead of fighting internal challenges, ACT teaches how to open up to them with acceptance and mindfulness, building psychological flexibility that allows us to live more fully and consciously.

In this method, I use carefully selected tools — metaphors, paradoxes, and experiential exercises—that help you establish a healthier relationship with difficult thoughts, feelings, or memories. This allows you to fully immerse yourself in the present moment and steer your life toward the values that matter most to you.

The goal of ACT is not to eliminate symptoms, but to enable you to achieve meaningful goals and enrich your life with purpose, with the alleviation of difficulties often occurring as a natural effect of these changes.

Scientific research confirms the high effectiveness of ACT across a wide spectrum of challenges, including work with people experiencing depression, anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, burnout, chronic pain, eating disorders, and addictions, as well as in supporting people with chronic conditions such as diabetes or obesity, and in other complex situations.

ACT is included on the list of evidence-based psychological interventionspublished by the APA (American Psychological Association).

If you’d like to learn how ACT can support your goals and well-being, I invite you to schedule a conversation so we can design the best path forward for you together.
